Women’s Empowerment Club: Women in Sports Panel
November 22, 2024
The Upper School Women’s Empowerment Club recently organized a fantastic Upper School Speakers Block on Women in Sports. Students in the Women’s Empowerment Club (Riya J. ’27, Madelyn M. ’27, Hazel P. ’25, Siena S. ’25, Piper W. ’26, and Yasmeen Y. ’27) organized the entirety of this amazing event centered around the achievements, advancements, and adversities facing women in sports. These students curated a top-notch panel of women to speak with our Upper School students, including:
-
CWA’s very own Coach Kate Rue: UW collegiate basketball player, professional basketball player in Europe, founder of Girls Got Game.
-
Danielle Ritter: Niagara University D1 softball player, player and coach in Europe, Washington State Master Softball Player, Mount Tahoma Varsity softball Coach, and parent of a current CWA student.
-
Angie Mentink: UW All-American softball player, professional baseball player, reporter, host, and analyst for Root Sports Northwest, First female color commentator for the Seattle Mariners.
-
Alanna McDonald: Brown University D1 Volleyball Player, Professional Volleyball Player in Europe, Previous employee of the Seattle Storm, and Co-Founder of 3XBA.
A round of applause for our Upper School Women’s Empowerment Club for their hard work to educate our Upper School students on the advancements that have occurred in sports because of strong women like these!
