Remembering Chris Gorycki, Interim Head of School
October 30, 2024
On Monday, October 28, 2024, our community was made aware of our Interim Head of School, Christopher Gorycki’s, unexpected passing. As a community, we grieve for his family, friends, and all who were able to experience his leadership.
Chris came to our school at a time of transition. While he was only with our school for three months, those months were filled with rebuilding and reenvisioning how our school operates, and more importantly, changing the culture of our school for the better. In what seems to be such a short amount of time, he helped Charles Wright Academy in so many ways. When asked “Why Charles Wright Academy?” he would simply respond, “This school just needs a little more joy.” As our Interim Head of School, that is exactly what he did. He found bits and pieces of joy and capitalized on those moments. Whether he was the loudest spectator at an Upper School athletic competition, having lunch with our Lower and Middle School students, or conducting meetings with our Senior Leadership and Management Team, he brought joy back to Charles Wright Academy.
Our time with Chris was too short, but our community will continue to honor his legacy of leadership. We will continue to find moments of joy and work together to rebuild after this tragic loss.
If you would like to share any stories of joy about Chris, please email cwa@charleswright.org. We would love to hear how he impacted our community and share this with his family.
