CWA Selects Kevin Campbell as Next Upper School Director
April 07, 2025
Charles Wright Academy is pleased to announce that Kevin Campbell has accepted the position of Upper School Director, and we look forward to welcoming him to our community in July. Kevin is a highly accomplished educational leader who is deeply committed to fostering inclusive, innovative, and student-centered learning environments.
Kevin comes to us from Sun Valley Community School, where he has served as Upper School Head for seven years, leading and managing all academic, operational, and strategic aspects of the Upper School division. Prior to Sun Valley Community School, he held leadership positions at Kirby School as Dean of Students, where he focused on student well-being, discipline, and restorative practices. His previous experience also includes roles as Student Activities Director and Safety Officer, where he championed student leadership and campus safety initiatives.
Throughout our national search, it became evident that Kevin is an excellent fit for our community. He believes that a thriving Upper School requires a leader who is visible and engaged, collaborating with teachers to enhance instruction, mentoring students in both academic and personal growth, and fostering an environment where everyone feels seen and valued.
When asked for feedback on Kevin’s interview, one community member shared, “One of Kevin’s standout qualities he shared is his ability to listen more than he speaks. In discussing his leadership approach, he emphasized the importance of forming meaningful connections with faculty, staff, students, and families, highlighting the significance of presence within the community. Additionally, when Kevin spoke about his interest in Charles Wright, he cited the school’s focus on the whole child, experiential learning, and the social-emotional aspects of education as key reasons for his enthusiasm. He also shared that CWA’s commitment to belonging and inclusion resonates with his values.”
We also want to extend our gratitude to Laurel Webster for stepping in as the Interim Upper School Director this year. She’s done a phenomenal job and is excited to return to teaching full-time next year as that is her greatest passion.
