Board of Trustees Update – July 12, 2024

July 12, 2024

Dear CWA Community,

It was an exciting week at CWA and we have a lot to talk about…

  • Three Interim candidates visited campus this week and met with faculty and staff, parents, and even a few students. The Interim Head of School Search Committee, which includes faculty and parent representatives, will meet this weekend to identify the candidate they feel will serve CWA best and will make its formal recommendation to the Board next week. We plan to announce the Interim to the school community on Friday, July 19.

As a reminder, Interim Heads of School are a specialized position, possessing years of experience and expertise in schools in various aspects of transition. After a 1-2 year term at CWA (and after we’ve appointed a permanent Head of School) the Interim will move on to assist another school. All three candidates that visited our campus this week fit this description, and their meetings with faculty and current families provided additional feedback to assist the Board in making a decision that will be made in the coming days.

Check out this article to understand more about Interim Heads.

  • The upcoming Long Term Head Search will span 12-18 months and will involve significant participation from the family community, faculty, alumni, and other stakeholders, providing ample opportunities for involvement and feedback through various channels during the process. To begin our gathering of information to assist us in our search, we have scheduled a series of listening sessions moderated by Reciprocity Consulting, which are open to the CWA community and will provide attendees an opportunity to share concerns, pose questions, and provide general feedback. The first set of listening sessions are officially scheduled for the following dates:

    • Monday, July 22, 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m.

    • Tuesday, July 23, 10:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m.

An RSVP is appreciated for planning purposes but is not required. Please RSVP here. These sessions will be held in the Lower School Commons. A separate session will be held for faculty and staff, who will be contacted directly with those details. Additional sessions will be held in early August. To ensure that these meetings are as productive as possible there will not be an online option, so in person attendance and participation are encouraged.

  • As we reported last week, Reciprocity is also developing an online survey to gather additional community feedback. The survey is tentatively scheduled to go out the week of July 22.

Thank you again for your support! Please feel free to share this and future updates with anyone who might be interested in CWA happenings. Alumni and parents of alumni who aren’t receiving school communications but would like to may provide their updated contact information to the school. Alumni click here. Parents of alumni click here. As always, please feel free to contact us at feedback@cwatrustees.com with any comments, questions, or concerns. Go Tarriers!

Sincerely,

The CWA Board of Trustees
