Board of Trustees Update – August 9, 2024
August 09, 2024
Dear CWA Community,
With Interim Head of School, Chris Gorycki, in place (watch for a separate message from him soon) and weekly school communications starting back up next week, the Board wants to be mindful about overfilling your inbox so we may be communicating less frequently, or perhaps in different ways than we have been over the last eight weeks. Because each Division Director sends out updates every Friday, the Board may incorporate updates into those communications. Of course, you can always reach us via email at feedback@cwatrustees.com or the contact form on the Trustee page of the CWA website. We love hearing from everyone.
Here’s the latest:

Our next set of listening sessions, which are open to anyone and everyone in the CWA community, have been scheduled for the following dates:
-
Monday, August 19, 2:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m.
-
Tuesday, August 20, 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m.
RSVP here. Sessions will take place in the Upper School Commons (AKA Phyllis Kriese Commons). There will be warm-up activities and a chance to share whatever is on your mind and connect with other families. Some trustees will be present at each session to listen, learn and encourage open sharing. We want this space to be centered on family experiences, so trustees will be listening for understanding rather than providing specific updates or responses at this point.
Once we have had time to meaningfully synthesize and interpret the information, identifying themes and questions, we look forward to reconvening with the CWA community to report back, ensuring that important themes are shared and concerns are aired, incorporated in future plans, and shared wholly with the Interim Head of School so he is informed and ready to lead. These recommendations from our community will be incorporated into plans and inform the strategy of how we move forward–together.
An RSVP is appreciated for planning purposes but not required. To ensure that these meetings are as productive as possible there will not be an online option, so in person attendance and participation is encouraged. These listening sessions will be moderated by Reciprocity Consulting.
An additional listening session for faculty staff only will be communicated to that group separately.

Reciprocity’s online survey is open until Friday, August 16. This survey is designed for those who are unable to participate in listening sessions, but all are welcome to participate. Contact information is optional. These responses will be included in the summary of what was heard from the listening sessions overall. The data collected will help us understand our community as well as guide us in the search for the long term head of school. Thank you for taking time to share your thoughts and recommendations.
Please feel free to share this and future updates with anyone who might be interested in CWA happenings. Alumni and parents of alumni who aren’t receiving school communications but would like to may provide their updated contact information to the school. Alumni click here. Parents of alumni click here. As always, please feel free to contact us at feedback@cwatrustees.com with any comments, questions, or concerns.
Thank you for reading and we hope you have a great weekend. Go Tarriers!
Sincerely,
The CWA Board of Trustees
