DuChanté joined Charles Wright Academy in 2020 and currently serves as the Director of Diversity, Equity, Inclusion, and Belonging. Before this role, he taught Middle School math and science, coached varsity and junior varsity basketball, coordinated DEIB efforts at both Middle and Upper school levels, and taught Upper School forensic science.

 

His teaching career began in the Bay Area, where he taught high school Chemistry before moving to Washington State. Just prior to joining CWA, DuChanté worked in educational technology, integrating and training educators on financial literacy and social-emotional learning curricula across Washington.

 

Originally from Cleveland, Ohio, DuChanté holds a B.A. in Middle Grades Education from High Point University and an M.Ed. in Instructional Design from Western Governors University.

 

He has participated in extensive professional development, including attending the People of Color Conference twice, the NWAIS Leadership Institute, and presenting at the NWAIS Fall Educator Conference. He completed Cornell University’s DEI certification program and has served on the planning committee for NWAIS’s Student Diversity Retreats.

 

DuChanté is passionate about empowering students and making a meaningful impact. He values the opportunity to learn from the vibrant community around him: students, families, and colleagues alike.
