In September 2024, the National Merit Scholarship Corporation announced the names of more than 16,000 Semifinalists and 34,000 Commended Students in the 70th annual National Merit Scholarship Program. Out of this large group of students, Charles Wright Academy is pleased to announce that four of our students have received recognition through the program. 

Brent H. ‘25 was recognized as a Semifinalist and has the opportunity to continue in the competition for one of the 6,870 National Merit Scholarships worth nearly $26 million that will be offered next spring. About 95 percent of Semifinalists are expected to attain Finalist standing, and approximately half of the Finalists will win a National Merit Scholarship, earning the Merit Scholar title. The nationwide pool of Semifinalists, representing less than one percent of U.S. high school seniors, includes the highest-scoring entrants in each state. 

Olivia N. ‘25, Hazel P. ‘25, and Siena S. ‘25 have all been recognized as Commended Students in the 2025 National Merit Scholarship Program. These three students will receive a Letter of Commendation from the National Merit Scholarship Corporation. Commended Students placed among the top 50,000 students who entered the 2025 competition by taking the 2024 Preliminary SAT/National Merit Scholarship Qualifying Test (PSAT/NMSQT).
